The forthcoming New Tata Punch EV is built on the new ALFA platform and will compete with the Citroen eC3 in our market.
Tata Motors has recently introduced the Punch CNG, and as previously mentioned, they are set to unveil the Punch EV later this year. While the sub-compact electric SUV has been spotted testing in the past, a recent spy shot unveils a charging slot on the front bumper of the vehicle. The Punch EV is anticipated to launch during the upcoming festive season and is expected to feature Tata’s Ziptron powertrain.

New Tata Punch EV: What is new?
The recent spy shots confirm that the Punch will distinguish itself from other Tata EVs by featuring a charging slot on the front bumper, a first for the brand. Apart from this detail, no additional new features are apparent in these spy shots.
It is speculated that the Tata Punch might be equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, a detail we’ve previously reported when a prior test mule was observed. Additionally, there’s a chance the EV could showcase a fresh, exclusive alloy wheel design.
The Punch EV may adopt the new 2-spoke steering wheel design seen on the Curvv concept and more recently on the Nexon facelift. A test mule has been spotted with a 7-inch touchscreen, leading to speculation that Tata could outfit the Punch EV with the new 10.25-inch touchscreen featured in some of its latest models.

New Tata Punch EV: Powertrain
The Punch EV is built on the ALFA platform utilizing Tata’s second-generation EV architecture, conceived through a substantial ICE to EV conversion with significant modifications. It is anticipated that the Punch EV will employ Tata’s Ziptron powertrain, featuring a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor that propels the front wheels. Similar to the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon EVs, Tata Motors may provide the Punch EV with various battery size options.
New Tata Punch EV launch and price
The Tata Punch EV is set to debut during the upcoming festive season, presenting a competitive alternative to the Citroen eC3 (priced between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 12.43 lakh).
Tata Motors recently reached a significant milestone, surpassing 1 lakh units in EV sales in India over a span of 5 years. The initial 10,000 units were achieved in 44 months, the subsequent 40,000 sales took 15 months, and the remaining 50,000 were accomplished in just nine months. The introduction of the Punch EV is likely to accelerate these numbers even further.
