Skoda Enyaq iV India launch details

While competitors such as Hyundai, Kia, Tata, and Mahindra have already ventured into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, Skoda is preparing to make its debut with the Enyaq iV. Petr Solc, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, expressed the brand’s strategy, stating, “We will start with the Enyaq, which we plan to introduce in the current fiscal year, and would like to test the market. If the market response is positive, we will explore bringing in more EV models.”

The Skoda Enyaq iV, an all-electric SUV, is built on the VW Group’s MEB born-electric platform, shared with vehicles like the Volkswagen ID 4 and Audi Q4 e-tron crossovers. With dimensions measuring 4,648mm in length and 1,877mm in width, the Enyaq iV is only slightly smaller than the Skoda Kodiaq. It is a 5-seat SUV with two rows of seats, emphasizing its focus on comfort and practicality.

Skoda has been actively testing the Enyaq in India, importing various prototypes with different power outputs. The Enyaq iV 80x, frequently spotted during tests, features a robust 77kWh battery supporting up to 125kW DC fast charging. This top-tier powertrain configuration includes dual motors—one on each axle—providing all-wheel-drive capability and a robust total output of 265hp. According to Skoda, the Enyaq iV 80x accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 6.9 seconds and boasts an impressive WLTP-rated range of up to 513km. As Skoda makes its entry into the Indian EV landscape, the Enyaq iV stands ready to make a bold statement with its cutting-edge technology and performance.

VW ID4 being readied for India-entry too

Volkswagen India has been meticulously putting the ID 4 SUV through its paces for over a year, eagerly anticipating the green light for its launch. The ID 4 shares the same robust underpinnings as the Enyaq, promising an electrifying driving experience. However, the much-anticipated launch still awaits the official nod from Volkswagen’s global headquarters, and all eyes are on May for the decisive confirmation. The anticipation builds as enthusiasts await the signal to welcome the ID 4 to the Indian roads.
